Date: Saturday, May 9, 2026 Time: 2:00pm - 3:30pm Location: Collbran Plateau Valley Fire Department Library: Collbran Branch Archaeological research throughout the Colorado Plateau has produced a great deal of information regarding the importance of birds to the prehistoric peoples of the region. The Dominquez Archaeological Research Group (DARG) has documented multiple examples of bird-related archaeology in western Colorado. Join archaeologist Sonny as she shares these unusual finds! Make an afternoon of it! Join us at 2:00 for a bird talk with archaeologist Sonny Shelton, then stick around for a guided bird walk at 4:00 along the creek. This event will take place at the Collbran Plateau Valley Fire Station, 2004 Elm Ave, Collbran Holly &ldquo;Sonny&rdquo; Shelton is an archaeologist, faunal analysis specialist, and crew chief for Grand River Institute and is a Dominquez Archaeological Research Group (DARG) associate. Shelton has worked for over 30 years as an archaeologist in Arizona, Colorado, Montana, and Utah. She has also been privileged to serve the western Colorado public for many years as a Registered Nurse and ANCC Certified Psychiatric/Mental Health Care RN.
