Barela co-wrote the state constitution, insisting that it be written also in Spanish and German. His story is the story of a man who lived an epic life and lived history large. He is one of 16 famous personages to have a stained glass portrait in the rotunda of the Colorado state capitol in the "Circle of Fame." Casimiro's life story and the creation of the state of Colorado are one amazing story - literally a tale for the ages.
