History at High Noon: Traces of Western Colorado from 1776 to 1876

Date: Thursday, July 16, 2026 Time: 12:00pm - 1:00pm Location: Central Library Community Room Library: Central Library Mesa County Libraries is happy to participate in the America 250 - Colorado 150 Commemoration as the nation celebrates 250 years of independence along with the 150 year anniversary of Colorado becoming a state. The Mesa County Oral History Meetings typically take place on a monthly basis at the Central Library in Grand Junction from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and are free of charge for the public to attend. This presentation will focus on the history of areas in Mesa County and Montrose County during a 100-year time window from 1776 to 1876 that saw dramatic change and significant events. Presenter Ike Rakiecki is a Librarian at Mesa County Libraries who is responsible for the Rashleigh Regional History Room at the Central Library. He enjoys researching local history and sharing what he finds. Seating is first come, first served.
